Two boys drown in Padma

BEHRAMPORE: Two teenage boys drowned in river Padma while taking a bath at Kalkali ghat in Lalgola on Sunday afternoon. The victims' family members alleged that the duo lost their lives because the ghats had become deeper after illegal sand mining.
Krishnapur rural hospital was also ransacked with some villagers claiming that one of the boys trembled after being declared dead.
Jit Singha, 13, had accompanied his mother Kanika and Shantanu Singha, 15, had accompanied his aunt Gita to the ghat for a bath. The teens were playing in the water when suddenly Kanika found the duo drowning. Kanika cried for help but by the time the villagers rushed in, Jit and Shantanu were nowhere to be seen.
